About Our Classes

We begin with a journey through the history of altars. We have open discussions concerning the colors of the church year, common misconceptions, myths, working with ministers, working as teams planning the overall worship service and its setting. Some of the topics covered include altar cloths, candles, props, crosses, music, how to organize Tribes of Dan within each congregations. Following discussions, students, given specific scripture and music, are asked to design an appropriate altar After practicing in the classroom, we take what we have learned to a local church, and as a group, design an actual altar for Sunday service.

Tribe of Dan Basic Altar Design
This class is created for church lay people wanting to explore visual concepts in a contemporary Christian setting. Classes will begin on Friday evening and carry over through Saturday afternoon. This is a hands-on class in altar design with emphasis on breaking the bonds of sameness, thus freeing us to express God's word through visual ministry.

This class goes even deeper than the Advanced Altar Design Class with an even more concentrated study of contemporary Christian altar design. You must have completed our Advanced Altar Design class before registering for this class. Specialized classes are offered for individual churches.
